The last Speldhurst Derby Show was a great success and raised £1342 for Hospice

What is the Speldhurst Derby?

The Speldhurst Derby and Fun Show was conceived both to raise money for Hospice in the Weald, and to provide a local venue for riders. The main Derby courses consists of between 15 to 20 jumps including show jumps, fixed cross country jumps and natural obstacles.

Many parents have used this event to take their children to their first competitive pony event and have been delighted to find how it has boosted their confidence.

For the competent rider the classes up to 2'9" provide a unique challenge.

There is clear round jumping at 3 heights starting at 1'6". There are informal showing classes and the Ten Legs Challenge which involves a horse, rider and dog or stuffed dog and carrier. Novelty gymkhana races have been added this year (the Magic Fishpond and Dressing Up)

Rosettes are awarded to 6th place and the winner receives a small equine trophy to keep.

Sponsorship

Since its early days the Speldhurst Derby has benefited from the generosity of many local businesses, who have sponsored our best jumps and contributed to running costs. The pictures of horsemanship and enjoyment visible on our Facebook page show how worthwhile it has all been. Once again, thank you for keeping our show alive.

You can help our worthwhile cause and your name or logo will be displayed prominently. We offer deals on sponsorship of jumps, rosettes and publicity material.
